India names squad for T20 World Cup in Australia; Bumrah, Harshal return
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday (September 12) announced the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 which will be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13.
Pacemen Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel who had missed the Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE due to injuries have returned to the 15-man squad led by Rohit Sharma.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury he sustained during the Asia Cup. Recently, he underwent surgery on his right knee.

For the World Cup, Mohammed Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Chahar are on the standby list.
Also on Monday, the BCCI’s selection panel picked the squads for the T20I home series against Australia and South Africa.
Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be reporting to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for conditioning-related work during the course of the home series against Australia and South Africa, the BCCI said in a media advisory.
India will play three T20Is against Australia starting from September 20. From September 28, India faces South Africa at home in three T20Is and same number of ODIs.
The South Africa series ends on October 11, five days before the start of the World Cup.
India’s first match at the World Cup is against Pakistan on October 23 in Melbourne. Before that it will play two warm-up games.
