Third incident in a row: Another Dalit man lynched for stealing donkeys in Rajasthan

Days after the recent lynching in Rajasthan’s Nagaur, where two Dalits were beaten up, another video surfaced on Twitter on Sunday (February 23) of three men lynched for stealing donkeys in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

In the video, three men had stolen five donkeys from Rama village and were heading towards Devikot village. Meanwhile, the villagers caught them and beat them.

The Superintendent of Police (SP), Jaisalmer, Kiran Kang said, “We have arrested one and another was detained, the search for other accused is on.”

Similarly, the locals have not registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the three accused.

This is the third incident reported in a week in Rajasthan. The first was when seven people were arrested on charges of torturing two Dalit men for allegedly stealing money and stealing money in Barmer.

While the second incident was reported when a group of men thrashed the two youths in Nagaur. They later allegedly dipped a piece of cloth wrapped on a screwdriver in petrol and inserted it in the private parts of one of them.

According to reports, the victim said, “I would not have reported the incident to the police if the video had not gone viral. The Rajput men threatened me with dire consequences if I told anyone.”
