Lucknow Super Giants splurged Rs 27 crore on Rishabh Pant to make him the most expensive player in IPL history

Hello and welcome to The Federal’s live coverage of the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

As many as 577 players will go under the hammer during the two days of the auction proceedings. The IPL auction is being held in Saudi Arabia for the first time.

As expected, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in the IPL's history. He was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 27 crore. Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer were the other two who fetched bids of Rs 20 crore-plus.

Overall, 72 players were sold and 12 were unsold on the first day of the auction. Rs 467.95 crore was spent and four RTMs (Right To Match) were used.
