Leonardo DiCaprio posts about Chennai water crisis
Chennai water crisis has now gathered attention from Hollywood’s Leonardo DiCaprio. The actor who is an active environmental activist has shared on his Instagram a post talking about Chennai’s growing water woes.
In a repost of BBC article, the actor wrote, “Only rain can save Chennai from this situation.”
Chennai, a metropolitan city in South India, has been struggling with deficit rainfall since 2018. The four major lakes that replenish the groundwater in the city Puzhal, Sholavaram, Kaliveli, Pulicat and Maduranthakam have gone dry.
The government too has started working for solutions by providing water tankers but the supply is too meagre as to compared to the huge demand.
This is not the first time the actor has posted about India, he has has previously too shared a post regarding growing garbage dump in Ghazipur, which is set to surpass Taj Mahal’s height.
Known for contributing towards environmental issues, the actor’s Instagram and Twitter has been aflood with awareness posts.
Also, when the actor received Oscar award for the movie, The Revenant, he used the platform to talk about climate change and said we should not be taking our planet for granted.
On work front, DiCaprio is gearing up for his Once upon a time in Hollywood release with Brad Pitt and ensemble cast.
