Live: India script history with 3rd T20 World Cup win
The hosts dominated New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad
India thrashed New Zealand by 96 runs in the final to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in Ahmedabad on Sunday night (March 8).
Chasing 256, the Kiwis were never in the hunt and were bowled out for 159 in 19 overs. Jasprit Bumrah was outstanding again with 4/15 in 4 overs.
India are the first team in T20 World Cup to win three trophies and also first hosts and to claim back-to-back wins.
Earlier, Sanju Samson scarred an awestruck New Zealand in the company of an equally destructive Abhishek Sharma (52), who saved his best for the last in India's record-breaking 255 for five.
And if that wasn't enough, Ishan Kishan (54 off 25 balls) proved that even three can tango together as India's top three in a superlative batting display stunned New Zealand.
