J-K: 4 including 2 soldiers killed in gunfight with terrorists at Butapathri
Terrorists ambushed a vehicle of 18 Rashtriya Rifles while it was on its way to Butapathri which is close to the Line of Control
Two soldiers and as many civilians were killed in a firefight between the Army and militants at Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
Four soldiers who were injured in the attack have been rushed to the hospital.
The two killed civilians worked as porters with the Indian Army.
According to reports, the exchange of fire took place after militants attacked a vehicle of 18 Rashtriya Rifles. The terrorists ambushed the vehicle when it was on its way to Butapathri, five kilometres from the Line of Control.
The incident was confirmed by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army on X.
Security forces have reportedly launched counter operations following the attack.
CM condemns attack
In a post on social media site X, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the attack while raising concern over the recent spate of attacks in the valley.
“Very unfortunate news about the attack on the army vehicles in the Boota Pathri area of North Kashmir which has resulted in some casualties & injuries. This recent spate of attacks in Kashmir is a matter of serious concern. I condemn this attack is the strongest possible terms & send my condolences to the loved ones of the people who lost their lives. I also pray that injured make a complete & swift recovery,” the post said.
The attack came three days after six construction worker anda doctor were killed in a terrorist attack at a construction site in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
