He was received at the airport by France’s Education Minister Edouard Geffray, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Space Philippe Baptiste, French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathou, and Nice Mayor Eric Ciotti.
The Tricolour was hoisted at the City Hall, the Office of the Mayor of Nice, in honour of Modi’s arrival, a rare gesture for foreign dignitaries.
The prime minister will meet French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday (June 14).
Here’s a look at the key engagements in Modi’s itinerary:
Meeting with Macron
In the first leg of the visit, the prime minister will hold a bilateral meeting with Macron on Sunday.
Both leaders will review the full spectrum of the India-France bilateral relationship, which was elevated to the level of a Special Global Strategic Partnership earlier this year.
Bharat Innovates
Modi, along with Macron, will also inaugurate ‘Bharat Innovates’, an event that is set to bring together top innovation startups and Venture Capital funds from India, France, and other countries.

The event that is being hosted during the ‘India-France Year of Innovation’ will feature 120 Indian innovators, 15 Higher Education Institutions and over 500 investors. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal will accompany the prime minister to the event.
G7 Summit
Modi will travel to Evian in France to attend the G7 Summit on June 16 and 17. There he will interact with leaders of G7 countries and those from invited countries like Brazil, Egypt, Kenya and South Korea.
Modi said India will not only speak for itself but also give voice to the aspirations of the Global South at the G7 Summit.

Talks with Trump
The prime minister is reportedly scheduled to meet US President Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit. While the White House has informed the Indian media of the same, there has been no confirmation from the side of the Indian government yet.

Before wrapping up his visit to France on June 18, Modi will attend the VivaTech Summit along with the French president in Paris. There, he is expected to address the Indian diaspora.
VivaTech is Europe’s foremost gathering of technology and innovation, and India will have the largest national pavilion at this edition, a fitting symbol of the enormous potential for partnership between Indian and European innovation ecosystems.
