Arrest warrants issued against Hasina, 45 others over mass killings
The government has reconstituted ICT to expedite the trials against the guilty in the July-August uprising, which forced Hasina to flee to India on August 5
Arrest warrants have been issued against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, now in India, and 45 others over the hundreds of deaths in mass protests that toppled the Bangladesh leader.
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in Dhaka on Thursday issued the warrants. Among those who are being sought are former ministers Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasan Mahmud and Anisul Huq.
Media reports said the 46 have been charged with committing crimes against humanity during the July-August uprising.
Arrest them, ICT tells government
The ICT, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumdar, passed the orders after the prosecution filed two petitions seeking arrest warrants against them, chief prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam told The Daily Star.

The tribunal told the authorities to produce the 46, including Hasina, before it after arresting them by November 18, Islam said.

Hundreds killed in uprising
At least 753 people were killed and thousands injured in the mass uprising.
More than 60 complaints of crimes against humanity and genocide have been filed against Hasina and many of her party colleagues.
