Rafah border crossing remains closed
The Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza remained closed on Friday (October 20) despite a personal visit to the region by the UN secretary general Antonio Guterres. A convoy of trucks with badly-needed supplies for the blockaded Palestinians in the Gaza enclave has been delayed for several days though US President Joe Biden convinced the Israelis to open the border crossing.
Gaza’s population is in dire straits with their water ration being reduced to one litre a person a day for all uses, as compared to the international standard of a minimum of 15 litres per person per day.
