Sepaktakraw: Historic bronze for Indian women's regu team


The Indian women's regu team, captained by Maipak Devi Ayekpam, faced a 0-2 defeat against Thailand in the semi-final at the Asian Games 2023. Despite the loss, India secured the bronze medal, marking a historic achievement as the country's first-ever medal in women's sepaktakraw. This accomplishment also represents the second medal earned by an Indian sepaktakraw team in Asian Games history.

During the group stage, India suffered a loss to Vietnam but emerged victorious against China. The assurance of a women's regu sepaktakraw medal came earlier in the day when Vietnam defeated China, who finished at the bottom of the Group A standings.
