Bank holidays in September 2022: Banks to remain closed for 13 days; full list here


Banks will remain closed for 13 days in the month of September, as per the holiday list announced by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

The RBI has placed holidays under three different categories – Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

According to the RBI’s list, the bank holidays list for September 2022 shows there are 13 closed days including the second and fourth Saturdays, and Sundays.

However, the holidays differ from state to state and bank to bank. Below is the list of bank holidays in September 2022, according to RBI’s website.

On all the days when banks are closed, customers can continue to use online facilities.

  • September 1: Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd day) – Panaji
  • September 4: Sunday
  • September 6: Karma Puja – Ranchi
  • September 7: First Onam – Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram
  • September 8: Thiruvonam – Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram
  • September 9: Indrajatra – Gangtok
  • September 10: Second Saturday
  • September 10: Sree Naravana Guru Jayanthi – Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram
  • September 11: Sunday
  • September 18: Sunday
  • September 21: Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day – Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram
  • September 24: Fourth Saturday
  • September 25: Sunday
  • September 26: Navtatri Sthapna/Mera Chaoren Houba of Lainingthou Sanamahi – Imphal, Jaipur
