TN class XII results: Girls outperform boys

Class XII results for Tamil Nadu State Board examinations were declared by the Directorate of Government Examination on April 19.

Of the 8,69,423 students who appeared for the examination, 4,53,262 were girls and 3,89,250 were boys. The state recorded an overall pass percentage of about 91.3%. The pass percentage of the boys was 88.57% and girls was 93.64%.

In the results, Tirupur district ranked first with a pass percentage of 95.37%, while Erode ranked second with 95.23%, Perambalur ranked third with a pass percentage of 95.15% and Coimbatore ranked fourth with 95.05%.

Though the overall pass percentage was 91.3%, the pass percentage of government schools was 84.76%. The government-aided schools recorded a pass percentage of 93.64% and percentage of matric students (private schools) is 98.26%.

Of the 2,697 physically-challenged students who appeared for the examination, 2,404 passed and of the 45 prisoners who took exam, 34 passed.
