A journalist, who worked as a part-time driver for Rapido, was mowed to death by a speeding luxury car in Chennai on Tuesday (November 19).

The victim, Pradeep Kumar (39), was a video journalist with a private Telugu television channel in Chennai. He lived in Pondy Bazaar and worked as a part-time driver for Rapido.

The accident happened on the Maduravoyal-Tambaram bypass, police told the media. Pradeep was reportedly flung about a hundred metres away when the speeding BMW car rammed his motorcycle.

Police said a hunt is on to trace the driver who abandoned the BMW car and fled immediately after the incident late on Tuesday night.

The car was registered in the name of a private company in Velappanchavadi, police said. A case has been registered.
