The ruling AIADMK has lodged a second complaint with the state police to “thwart a conspiracy to unleash violence” by V Sasikala and Dhinakaran and protect the lives of the people of Tamil Nadu and to ensure peace.

Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) chief and Sasikala’s nephew Dhinakaran rubbished the conspiracy allegation as ‘defamatory and false.’

This is the second police complaint being filed by the AIADMK, on the eve of the expelled leader Sasikala’s return to Chennai on February 8, after her release from jail in a high-profile corruption case.

In the earlier police case, the AIADMK had objected to Sasikala’s flagrant use of the party flag and sought action.

Talking to reporters after submitting the second complaint at the DGP’s office, the Law Minister C Ve Shanmugam alleged that a conspiracy has been hatched by Sasikala and her camp to create ‘violence’ by using AIADMK’s name and flag and then blame the ruling party for it. Shanmugam was flanked by his cabinet colleagues and party veteran E Madhusudhanan.

Dhinakaran and his supporters had made ‘intimidatory’ remarks, tantamount to creating violence in the state, he alleged. And, Dhinakaran had also mocked their efforts to prevent them from using the AIADMK’s flag. They would continue to use the flag even if the AIADMK went to the state police chief or the armed forces, he is supposed to have said.

The threat by Dhinakaran and Sasikala’s supporters have also taken the form of possible ‘human bombs,’ which could put at risk Tamil Nadu, its people and peace, alleged Shanmugam.

Meanwhile, Dhinkaran claimed that the police has given them the nod to give receptions to Sasikala at several places in Tamil Nadu. The slew of receptions will kick off with a grand one from the Tamil Nadu border near Hosur.

The Tamil Nadu government has confiscated 6 properties of Sudhakaran and Ilavarasi, relatives of Sasikala. While Ilavarasi is to be out of prison next week, Sudhakaran is still in prison because of non-payment of fine.

Jayalalithaa’s former residence at Poes Garden, which has now been converted into a memorial to the late leader, is out of bounds for public due to maintenance work.

Security has also been beefed up at the AIADMK head office in Royapettah in Chennai.
