Ramakrishna Pillai, an overseas citizen of India in Seychelles, has expressed his desire to donate land to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in Victoria, the capital of Seychelles. If the land is approved by the TTD trust, it will be the first instance of an overseas land being donated to the temple.

The temple trust has said that it would conduct a thorough feasibility study for the donation to materialise.

“I would like to donate four acres of prime land in Victoria in Seychelles, which is worth approximately ₹5 crore, to the TTD and request the temple body to build a Lord Venkateswara temple there,” Pillai told the TTD.

Pillai also said that there is a large amount of Hindu population in Seychelles, and that the Hindu community has already built a Lord Ganesha temple there.

Recently, Tirupati MP Dr. M Gurumoorthy, patron member of the Business Network Cabinet (BNC) group, and TTD trust board member Dr. S Shankar, the vice-president of BNC group, met a group of potential business leaders and NRIs in Chennai and sought their support and contribution for the development of the city and the temple. It was at the meeting that Pillai had proposed for the land.
