Five people have been booked in Morena in Madhya Pradesh after two of them had obtained medical emergency passes, posing as patient and driver, and travelled in a private vehicle to Uttar Pradesh to get married.

“Imran Qureshi and Shahrukh travelled to Agra on April 30, posing as patient and driver. However, they had gone there to get married and returned with their wives,” Sub Inspector Ramvir Senthia said on Saturday (May 2).

“Anand Rathore, the owner of the vehicle, used the same permission to go to Agra and bring here his wife, who has tested positive for COVID-19. She has been admitted to the district hospital here,” he said, adding that Rathore too has been booked.

The other persons are Pawan and Golu Rathore who played a role in fraudulently obtaining permission from authorities to travel during the lockdown with the wrong intent.

“The five have been booked under IPC sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) as well as provisions of the Disaster Management Act,” Senthia said.

Collector Priyanka Das said the five have been booked because they had misused medical permission to travel during the lockdown and had also sneaked in a COVID-19 patient into the district in the process.
