A day after over 250 new COVID cases were reported in Delhi, a teacher and a student at a private school tested positive for COVID resulting in the classmates of the student being sent home.
On Thursday (April 14), AAP MLA Atishi said, “There are reports of a child and a teacher testing positive for Covid. Other students in the class have been sent home. We are closely tracking the situation.”

The national capital, on Wednesday, saw a jump of 118% in the number of cases in two days. Delhi reported 299 new positive cases. According to the city health department, the positivity rate was at 2.4%. Delhi’s COVID caseload stands at 18,66,881.
Delhi’s neighbouring cities Noida and Ghaziabad too had reported new COVID cases in schools in recent times. In four Noida schools, 23 students were affected by the virus. In Ghaziabad, a school was closed for three days after two students tested positive.
“Found out yesterday that 13 children have tested positive in Khaitan Public School. The school has informed us that they have closed the school. So far, 23 children have got corona in entire Noida,” the Chief Medical Officer of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma, told the media on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government will soon issue guidelines for schools given the slight rise in COVID cases, Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Thursday.
“COVID cases have slightly increased, but there is no rise in hospitalisation, so we need not worry. There is no need to panic but stay alert. We have to learn to live with COVID. We are constantly monitoring the situation,” Sisodia told reporters.
“I have got reports from a few schools where parents have informed about their child testing positive in the past few days. The education department will tomorrow issue guidelines to schools in this regard,” he added.
