The Congress on Tuesday (April 30) appointed Chhattisgarh MLA Devendra Yadav as the interim president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.

The post fell vacant after former Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned, citing differences with DPCC general secretary Deepak Babaria and the party’s choice of candidates for North-East and North-West Delhi Lok Sabha seats.

Yadav, 51, has twice been elected to the Delhi Assembly from Badli, which is part of the North-West Delhi Lok Sabha seat. He is also the AICC in-charge of Punjab, besides being a permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee (CWC).
