“It is Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary tomorrow. Some people fly down from Delhi to glorify themselves over his name but we work on Swamiji’s ideology throughout the year,” Banerjee said in an apparent reference to the prime minister.

Earlier in the day, Banerjee held a meeting with Modi at Raj Bhawan, during which, she said she asked him to withdraw the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Thereafter, the prime minister dedicated to the nation four refurbished heritage buildings in Kolkata — the Old Currency Building, the Belvedere House, the Metcalfe House and the Victoria Memorial Hall. The Culture Ministry had renovated these iconic galleries and refurbished them with new exhibitions, while curating the old galleries.

In the evening, Modi unveiled a dynamic architectural illumination with synchronised light and sound system of the Howrah Bridge as a part of 150th anniversary celebrations of Kolkata Port Trust. The event was attended by Banerjee and Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar.
