In their 200th Indian Premier League (IPL) game, Rajasthan Royals (RR) registered a 32-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday night (April 27).

Here are the highlights of RR vs CSK IPL 2023 match.

RR do a double over CSK

After having beaten CSK in their away game in Chennai on April 12 by just three runs, RR completed a double at home.

Rare DRS ‘failure’ for Dhoni

The Decision Review System (DRS) is often referred to as ‘Dhoni Review System’. MS Dhoni has always been too good while taking the reviews but it was not to be on Thursday night. Dhoni had a rare failure when he took a review against Yashasvi Jaiswal for an LBW off Maheesh Theekshana in the fourth over of the match. However, replays showed that the ball had pitched outside the leg-stump as CSK lost the review.

Fans disappointed over Dhoni ‘no show’

Though it was RR’s home ground, fans in yellow were in big numbers chanting ‘Dhoni, Dhoni’. CSK supporters had come to watch Dhoni bat but had to return home disappointed. They were hoping for Dhoni to walk out to bat after each CSK wicket fell but it was not to be. “Fans will be chasing me this year,” Dhoni said at the post-match presentation ceremony when asked about CSK supporters in Jaipur.

“This is a very special venue, my first ODI hundred in Vizag gave me 10 games but the 183 I made here gave me another one year. It was great to be back here,” he added.

Ashwin sets new IPL record

RR off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin removed CSK’s Impact Player Ambati Rayudu for a 2-ball duck. This was the 20th time that Ashwin had sent back a batter for a duck in IPL. He now holds the IPL record for dismissing most batsmen on zero. Ashwin took two wickets (Ajinkya Rahane and Rayudu) in one over, the 11th of the innings.

RR too set a new record

RR became the first team to score 200-plus in Jaipur in IPL.

Yashasvi Jaiswal overshadows Jos Buttler

Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was the aggressor in the first-wicket stand of 86 off 50 with Jos Buttler. As Jaiswal attacked the bowlers, Buttler (21-ball 27) could not match the left-hander.

Dhruv Jurel shines again

Batting at No. 5, Dhruv Jurel blitzed a 15-ball 34.

Shivam Dube’s big-hitting not enough

With a 33-ball 52, Shivam Dube kept CSK in the hunt but in the end, it was not enough to take his team home.
