The protesting farmers’ call for a three-hour ‘chakka jam’ on Saturday February 6 to oppose snapping of internet connectivity has come under the Delhi Police’s radar.

The police are extra alert following the Republic Day violence at Red Fort. Union home minister Amit Shah took stock of the law and order situation at a meeting attended by Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

The three-hour symbolic protest will be held across India, except in Delhi, stated the Bharatiya Kisan Union. To avoid violence of any kind, no protester will be allowed to enter Delhi on Saturday. The Delhi police said they will coordinate with the forces in other states as a precautionary measure.

The social media ‘toolkit’, shared by Swedish climate change activist Greta Thunberg on her Twitter account on Thursday, is also under scrutiny as the cyber police closely monitor people sharing the details.

The internet is suspended partially in Delhi’s border areas since January 26 when a huge group of protesters clashed with police and went all the way to Red Fort. Restrictions on the internet have come under intense scrutiny with international media and celebrities taking note of it.
