This Budget, the FM will need to find ways to increase liquidity to activate a sluggish economy. She is expected to rely heavily on divesting public sector undertakings as tax imposition is unlikely. Also, the pandemic-induced challenges need to be addressed and various sector-specific reforms are expected. This budget, being presented at the start of the Modi government’s second term, is expected to have more realistic measures rather than mass-based ones.
