FIFA World Cup 2022 awards, prize money: Golden Boot, Golden Ball, other winners

Curtains came down on the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar on Sunday night (December 18). There were special awards that were given away on the final night at the Lusail Stadium in Al Daayen.

In a thrilling final, Argentina beat defending champion France 4-2 on penalties after it was 3-3 after extra time.

Here is the full list of FIFA World Cup 2022 awards & prize money details

Champion: Argentina. Prize money: $42 million (₹347 crore)

Runner-up: France. Prize money: $30 million (₹248 crore)

Third place: Croatia. Prize money: $27 million (₹223 crore)

Fourth place: Morocco. Prize money: $25 million (₹206 crore)

Quarter-final exit (4 teams): Brazil, Netherlands, Portugal, and England. Prize money: $17 million each (₹140 crore)

Round of 16 exit (8): The US, Senegal, Australia, Poland, Spain, Japan, Switzerland, and South Korea. Prize money: $13 million (₹107 crore) each

Golden Boot

Kylian Mbappe (France) – 8 goals

The Golden Boot was awarded to the player who scored the most goals in the final competition. If two or more players score the same number of goals, the number of assists (as determined by the members of the FIFA Technical Study Group) shall be decisive. If two or more players are still equal after taking into account the number of assists, the total minutes played in the tournament will be taken into account, with the player playing fewer minutes ranked first.

Golden Ball

Lionel Messi (Argentina). Messi created history by winning the Golden Ball for the second time. He won in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil when his team lost 1-0 to Germany in the final.

The Golden Ball was awarded to the best player in the World Cup.

Golden Glove

Emi Martinez (Argentina)

The Golden Glove was awarded to the best goalkeeper in the World Cup, as selected by the FIFA Technical Study Group.

Young Player

Enzo Fernandez (Argentina)

The Young Player Award was presented to the best young player (born on or after 1 January 2001) in the World Cup, as selected by the FIFA Technical Study Group.
