COVID-19: 10,584 cases, 78 deaths in India in last 24 hours
India reported 10,584 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, pushing the infection tally of the country to 1,10,16,434, according to the latest data updated on Union health ministry's website on Tuesday (February 23) morning.

Besides, 78 deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 1,56,463. As many as 13,255 discharges following COVID-19 treatment were recorded during this period, which pushed the total recoveries to 1,07,12,655.
The active caseload now stands at 1,47,306.
So far, 1,17,45,552 people have been vaccinated in the country and the inoculation process is set to move to the next priority group, including those above 50 and with co-morbidities, from March 1. States and UTs have been told to prepare for the same.
India has been witnessing a sudden surge in infections in five states – Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh – over the past week.
