DMK MP hits back in Tamil after minister kept sending messages in Hindi

DMK Rajya Sabha member Pudukkottai MM Abdulla has responded to Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu in Tamil after he kept getting letters in Hindi despite pleading that he did not understand the language.

Abdulla sent his Tamil communication to the minister on Friday (October 25).

It all began after Abdulla raised issues related to the quality of food as well as cleanliness in trains.

MP’s complaint

Sharing a copy of both letters on social media, Abdulla complained that despite several reminders to officials in the minister’s office that he could not follow Hindi, letters kept coming to him in Hindi.

So, Abdulla decided to pay back in the same coin – by writing a letter in Tamil.

"The letter from the office of Minister of State for Railways is always in Hindi. I called the officials posted in his office and said that I didn't know Hindi, please send the letter in English, but the letter was in Hindi. I have sent a reply in a way he would understand and act accordingly," the MP said on X.

Write in English, MP says

The DMK MP has requested in Tamil to Bittu that henceforth letters may be sent to him in English.

The DMK has been warning publicly that the Modi government was trying to thrust Hindi on the country in the name of fighting colonial symbols.
