Telangana: Woman ‘kills’ husband for Rs 8 Cr, drives to Karnataka to dump body
The crime came to light after police discovered the burnt body of the woman’s husband in a coffee plantation in Kodagu district
A Telangana woman has been arrested along with her lover and another accomplice on charges of killing her businessman husband after he refused to give her Rs 8 crore, according to police.
Niharika, 29, was taken into custody along with her 28-year-old lover Nikhil, a veterinary doctor, for plotting her husband Ramesh’s murder and disposing the body in a coffee plantation in Karnataka.

The badly burnt body of Ramesh, 54, was found near Suntikoppa in Kodagu district some three weeks ago. It took the police some efforts to know how to proceed because of lack of tell-tale evidence.
How cops unravelled murder plot
An extensive checking of CCTV footage from a wide swathe led the Karnataka Police to a red colour Mercedes Benz which was registered in Ramesh’s name whose wife had filed a missing person complaint.
Telangana Police became suspicious of Niharika after questioning her.
After being taken into custody, she revealed the entire story and named both Nikhil and the other accomplice, Ankur in the crime. They too were arrested.
Murder story
Niharika said she had met Ankur in a Haryana prison when she was jailed for economic fraud.
After her release, she married Ramesh. It was a second marriage for both.

It was this episode that made a furious Niharika plot her husband’s murder along with Nikhil and Ankur to access his wealth. On October 1, the trio allegedly choked Ramesh to death at Uppal in Hyderabad and drove almost 800 km to dispose the body in a coffee plantation in Karnataka. There, they set the body on fire.
Police solve crime
The three returned to Hyderabad, where Niharika told the police that her husband had gone missing.
Kodagu police chief Ramarajan was quoted as saying in the media that it was a challenging case and that the police had to examine around 500 CCTV cameras to zero in on Ramesh’s car.
