The men’s 10m air pistol team continued India’s success story at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, on Thursday (September 28).

The team of Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema, and Shiva Narwal narrowly beat the Chinese team to take the top podium and earn India its fourth gold medal from the shooting ranges.

With Thursday’s success, Indian shooters have so far won four gold, four silver, and five bronze medals.

Sarabjot and Arjun also made it to the eight-shooter finals and were in contention for individual medals. However, Sarabjot finished fourth, while Arjun ranked eighth.

In the women’s 60kg wushu sanda final, India’s Naorem Roshibina Devi signed off with a silver medal after a 0-2 defeat against local heavyweight Wu Xiaowei.

The Indian women’s badminton team thrashed Mongolia 3-0 to sail into the quarterfinals of the team championships. India will face a formidable Thailand in the quarterfinals.

India are currently the fifth-best nation at Hangzhou with six gold, eight silver, and 11 bronze medals.

Host China is on top of the medals chart with 167 medals including 90 golds.

Indian men's football team suffered a 0-2 defeat against tournament favourites Saudi Arabia in the men's football Round of 16 and has been eliminated from the Asian Games 2023.

The Indian team exhibited a compact defense and successfully held off their opponents during the first half while also managing to create several scoring opportunities.

Nevertheless, in the second half, Saudi star Mohammed Khalil Marran scored twice within a six-minute timeframe, paving the way for the Arab nation to advance to the quarter-finals in Hangzhou.

Indian mixed doubles pair Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale, seeded second, secured their spot in the semi-finals with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over the eighth-seeded Grigoriy Lomakin and Zhibek Kulambayeva from Kazakhstan at the Asian Games 2023. After a closely fought first set, the Indian duo displayed superior performance in the second set, outmatching their opponents from Kazakhstan.

This victory guarantees Bopanna and Bhosale a medal at Hangzhou, marking the first Indian mixed doubles tennis medal since 2014 when Saketh Myneni and Sania Mirza won gold.

Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale are set to face Chinese Taipei's Chan Hao-ching and Hsu Yu-hsiou in the mixed doubles semi-final tomorrow.

Two-time Olympian Anirban Lahiri delivered an impressive performance in the men's individual golf round 1 at the Asian Games 2023, finishing tied for ninth place (T9) with a score of 65, which is 7 strokes under par. The 36-year-old Indian golfer showcased his skill by recording five consecutive birdies from holes 13 to 17.

In the same competition, SSP Chawrasia scored 67, Shubhankar Sharma posted a score of 68, and Khalin Joshi finished with 70 strokes. They secured the positions of T19, T22, and T31, respectively.

India will aim to defend its men's doubles title at the Asian Games as Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni secured a spot in the final at Hangzhou 2023. The second-seeded Indian pair defeated Soonwoo Kwon and Seongchan Hong from the Republic of Korea with a score of 6-1, 7-6, 10-0 in the semi-final.

After winning the first set comfortably, the South Korean duo matched Ramanathan and Myneni's performance in the second set, levelling the match. However, the Indian pair dominated the 10-point tie-breaker, securing their place in the final.

India has won five men's doubles gold medals in Asian Games history. Ramanathan and Myneni will face Chinese Taipei's Yu-hsiou Hsu and Jason Jung in the men's doubles gold medal match tomorrow.

He secured the victory with game scores of 11-9, 11-2, 11-7, 11-7 against Mohamed Shaffan Ismail from the Maldives. Sharath Kamal, a 41-year-old veteran who previously won two Asian Games bronze medals in 2018 (one in the men's team and the other in mixed doubles), is set to face off against Chih-Yuan Chuang from Chinese Taipei in the round of 16 tomorrow.

Indian women's doubles pairs had a successful day in table tennis at the Asian Games 2023.

Sreeja Akula and Diya Chitale secured an 11-8, 15-13, 11-6 victory against Vietnam's Tran Mai Ngoc and Nguyen Thi Nga in the round of 32.

Additionally, Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee won their round of 32 clash against Kazakhstan's Zauresh Akasheva and Anastassiya Lavrona in straight games.

Both Indian women's doubles pairs will advance to the round of 16, which is scheduled for tomorrow starting at 1:30 PM. The Indian men's squash team beat Nepal in the Pool A tie at Hangzhou 2023. Both Abhay Singh and Mahesh Mangaonkar won their matches in straight games against Amrit Thapa and Arhant Simha, respectively. Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu followed suit in the final match with an 11-1, 11-2, 11-6 victory.

So far, India has won three out of the four group matches at the Asian Games 2023, with their only defeat occurring against Pakistan on Wednesday.

In addition, the Indian women's squash team has advanced to the semi-finals, guaranteeing India's first squash medal at Hangzhou.
