Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (March 16) accused the Congress government in Karnataka indulging in corruption and alleged that the law and order had broken down in the state.

Launching the BJP's Lok Sabha election campaign at Kalaburagi, the political hub of Congress President M Mallikarujn Kharge, he claimed the BJP will emerge on top of the Lok Sabha battle both in the country and in Karnataka.

‘Mass anger’

"I can understand the anger you (people) have towards Congress in Karnataka. The Congress … despite changing its costume a number of times, (its) misdeeds don't change,” Modi roared.

“That's the reason people of Karnataka are awake and are angry.”

Addressing a public rally, Modi said people of Karnataka were disenchanted with the Congress government in Karnataka since voting it to power in May last year.

Law and order

"This shows that people are aware of Congress' truth."

The prime minister said anti-social elements were getting protection in the state and fear was being instilled in the minds of the people. "When people are worried, Congress is busy with loot."

Among those present at the rally were former Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa, his son and BJP president BY Vijayendra and Umesh Jadhav, the BJP candidate from the Kalaburgai Lok Sabha seat.

Kashmir, south India

Looking at the crowd energy, the prime minister said it was a clear sign that voters had decided to make the BJP victorious in a record number of seats.

He claimed that his recent rally in Srinagar attracted mammoth crowds.

"The scenes and passion I saw in Srinagar, the enthusiasm I saw towards India. I can say with confidence that the country is ready to fulfill its aspirations," he said.

He said that in south India too, people from all sections and fields have extended support to the BJP.
