The BJP on Sunday (April 14) released its election manifesto, called 'Sankalp Patra', for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and party president JP Nadda.

The party’s release of its manifesto comes just days ahead of the first phase of the polls beginning April 19.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah mocked the BJP over its manifesto, saying its government has never fulfilled a promise, nor will it in the future.

Siddaramaiah said there has to be a review of what the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has done in the past 10 years.

"Have they (BJP) fulfilled what they had promised earlier? It has to be discussed. Did they give Rs 15 lakh (to every bank account holder)? Did they generate 2 crore jobs (per year)? Did they double farmers' income? Did they do Make in India? Did 'achhe din' (good days) come? Did prices of all food products and essential commodities come down?" Siddaramaiah asked in response to a question about the BJP manifesto, while speaking to reporters in Madikeri, Karnataka.

The BJP-led government has never fulfilled any promises and they will not fulfill in the future too, he said.

"They (BJP) may promise various things. For example, during the 2018 elections in Karnataka they had made six hundred promises, but didn't fulfill even sixty...they have to first tell what they did in 10 years. After that, they can say what they will do in the future. Modi has been the Prime Minister for 10 years, what was done during this period has to be reviewed first," he added.

The AAP on Sunday termed the BJP's Lok Sabha poll manifesto a "jumla patra" and said the document has no mention of the promises made by the Centre in the last 10 years.

The "Sankalp Patra" of the saffron party talks about making "one nation, one election" a reality, preparing common electoral rolls, abolishing waiting lists for train travel, expansion of 5G networks and organising Ramayan festivals the world over.

Addressing a press conference, senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi said the manifesto of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is nothing but a "jumla patra (document of rhetoric)".

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised two crore jobs every year to the youngsters of the country, but the jumla patra has no data on the job creation in the last 10 years," Atishi said. Youngsters are worried because of unemployment, she said, adding that the price of LPG cylinders has risen from Rs 300 to Rs 1,200 while the price of diesel has gone up from Rs 55 to Rs 90 per litre. "Every family is facing difficulties in meeting their expenses. No one will trust the jumla patra released by the BJP," the minister in the Delhi government said.

Modi released the BJP's Lok Sabha poll manifesto at the party headquarters here on Sunday. The manifesto has a special focus on the poor, youngsters, farmers and women.

He (PM Narendra Modi) had said that he will double farmers' income. He had said that he would increase MSP and give a legal guarantee - this is the guarantee. He didn't do any such big work in his tenure that would benefit all the people of the country. The youth is looking for jobs. Inflation is rising. He is not worried about inflation, unemployment...In 10 years, this man couldn't do anything for the poor. It is not correct to trust his manifesto. It proves that he has nothing to offer people: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Congress leader Pawan Khera: None of the govt before this has suffered the 'disease' of shifting goalposts. What you said in 2014, you gave no account on that in 2019 and you put new 'jumlas' and goalposts in 2019 and in 2024 you're talking about 2047. They (BJP) have written in the manifesto that they'll host the 2036 Olympics, where you'll be, will you be there in the govt? You should give the account of 5 years... They lie with so much clarity but now that they have lied so much that no one trusts them. He (PM Modi) said in an interview that I colour my hair white, 'hujur aap sirf baal safed nahi karte hai, aap jhooth bhi bade safedposh dhng se pesh karte hain'.
