Track cycling: David Beckham Elkatohchoongo finishes in 8th position

Indian cyclist David Beckham Elkatohchoongo achieved an impressive eighth-place finish in the men's sprint event at the Asian Games 2023. He clocked just 0.109 seconds behind Chinese Taipei's Shih-Feng Kang, who finished fifth, in the 5th-8th places race. This performance stands as the best-ever finish by an Indian cyclist in an individual sprint event at the Asian Games.

In contrast, Triyasha Paul was defeated in the women's sprint 1/16 final repechage heat by Republic of Korea's Hyeonseo Hwang, concluding her Hangzhou campaign.

David Beckham will continue competing in the men's keirin heats scheduled for tomorrow at 12:00 PM IST.
