TT: Manika enters prequarterfinals; mixed pair knocked out

Manika Batra advanced to pre-quarterfinals with a commanding win over Nepal's Nabita Shrestha in women's singles at the Asian Games, setting up a match against Thailand's Suthasini Sawettabut.

Sreeja Akula suffered a humiliating defeat to North Korea's Songgyong Pyon and exited the competition.

In men's doubles, Indian duo Manav Vikash Thakkar and Manush Utpalbhai Shah beat Maldives' Mohamed Shaffan Ismail and Moosa Munsif Ahmed to reach the round of 16.

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Sharath Kamal Achanta outplayed Mongolia's Ser-Od Gankhuyag and Manlaijargal Munkh-Ochir.

However, India's mixed pair of Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Manika Batra lose a close pre-quarterfinals match to Singapore's Zhe Yu Clarence Chew and Jian Zeng.

The other mixed pair, Sreeja Akula and Harmeet Rajul Desai, also exit the competition after losing to Thailand's Orawan Paranang and Phakpoom Sanguansin.
