Burglars sporting PPE gear rob jewellery store in Maharashtra

A group of burglars sporting personal protective equipment (PPE) gear have robbed a jewellery store in Maharashtra’s Satara district.

According to the police, the burglars had broken into the shop, two days ago, and walked away with 780 grams of gold. The CCTV footage accessed by the police shows the burglars taking maintain of some gold jewellery from showcases and cabinets in the shop in Phaltan area of the district.

The footage also shows the burglars sporting caps, masks, plastic jackets and hand-gloves. The police have registered a case based on a complaint from the proprietor of the jewellery store, who had stated the burglars took away 780 grams of gold, the police said.

Due to a severe shortage of masks and PPE kits, the Maharashtra government in April had tied up with local manufacturers to ensure that there was no shortfall.
