COVID-19: TN reports 1,974 new cases; 38 deaths raises toll to 435

Tamil Nadu reported 1,974 new COVID-19 cases today (June 14), taking the state tally to 44,661. As many as 38 patients succumbed to the infection today, pushing the death toll to 435.


Tamil Nadu reported 1,974 new COVID-19 cases today (June 14), taking the state tally to 44,661. As many as 38 patients succumbed to the infection today, pushing the death toll to 435.

According to the Tamil Nadu health bulletin, the state has 19,676 active cases till date. The number of COVID-19 recoveries on Sunday (June 14) stood at 1,138 leading to a cumulative tally of 24,547 so far. The recoveries indicate that 24,547 people have been discharged from hospitals, post COVID-19 treatment.

State capital Chennai continues to record a high number of COVID-19 cases with 1,415 today alone, among the other districts. Chennai is closely followed by the neighbouring district Chengalpet, which also recorded 178 new coronavirus cases today.

Out of the 1,974 new cases reported today, 10 were international passengers who returned from abroad, while 23 were passengers who came from other cities of the country.

Tamil Nadu has a total of 79 functioning COVID-19 testing facilities across the state, out of which, 45 are government and 34 are private facilities. A total number of 18,782 samples were tested today in the state.
