Former bureaucrat D Babu Paul is dead

Thiruvananthapuram: Former Kerala additional chief secretary, writer, and orator D Babu Paul is nor more. He passed away early Saturday following a heart ailment at a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He was 78.

Babu Paul, as project coordinator and collector of Idukki had commissioned the Idukki arch dam, one of the largest in Asia.

Babu Paul is survived by children Mariam Joseph (Niba) and Cheriyan C Paul (Nibu). The
former bureaucrat’s wife, Anna Babu Paul (Nirmala), passed away in 2000. K Roy Paul, former aviation secretary and member of the Union Public Service Commission, is his brother.

Babu Paul had written the Vedasabda Ratnakaram, a glossary of Bible terms containing 4,000 titles and six lakh words. He had worked with many political dispensations and was known as a ready reckoner on the political, social, cultural, and administrative history of Kerala.
