CAA effect: Kerala opposition leader rescinds invitation to Guv

Leader of the Opposition in Kerala Ramesh Chennithala, on Monday, rescinded his invitation to Governor Arif Mohammed Khan who was to be the chief guest at a function.

Leader of the Opposition in Kerala Ramesh Chennithala, on Monday, rescinded his invitation to Governor Arif Mohammed Khan who was to be the chief guest at a function.

Ramesh Chennithala informed the Governor’s ADC that ‘it may not be appropriate for the Honourable Governor to grace the function.’

The letter written by the LoP’s private secretary to the Governor’s ADC, said the former deemed that it would be ‘ideal if the Governor’ took this programme out of his schedule.

The function was to commemorate former Chief Minister and Congress leader K Karunakaran. The Congress changed its stance after Karunakaran’s son, K. Muraleedharan, MP, lashed out at the Governor saying he was trying to further the RSS-BJP agenda in the wake of the CAA protests.

The Governor tweeted that he was ready for a dialogue with those who aired voices of dissent.
