107 new COVID-19 cases in Kerala today, 1,095 patients under treatment
107 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Kerala today, as per a statement from the office of the Minister for Health & Social Justice, K.K. Shailaja.
27 people in Malappuram district, 26 from Thrissur district, 13 in Pathanamthitta district, nine from Kollam district, seven in Alappuzha district, six each from Palakkad and Kozhikode districts, four in Thiruvananthapuram districts, three each from Kottayam and Kasargod districts, two in Kannur district and one from Idukki district are those who have tested positive for coronavirus.
71 of them have arrived in the State from other countries (UAE-39, Kuwait-21, Saudi Arabia-4, Russia-2, Tajikistan-2, Qatar-1, Oman-1 & Italy-1) and 28 from other states (Maharashtra-15, Tamil Nadu-7, Delhi-4, Gujarat-1 & Telangana-1. Eight are cases of local transmission – three from Thrissur district, two in Malappuram and Palakkad districts, and one from Kollam district.
At the same time, the test results of 41 patients who were under treatment for the disease were negative today. 14 patients from Thrissur district (including two natives of Palakkad), six in Kasargod district, five each from Palakkad and Kannur districts, three each in Kollam and Alappuzha districts, and one each in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Kozhikode (a native of Thrissur) and Malappuram districts are those who have been cured of coronavirus. Till now, 803 patients have recovered and 1,095 patients are still under treatment.
A total of 1,91,481 people are under observation in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,89,765 are under home or institutional quarantine and 1,716 are in hospitals. 277 people were hospitalised today.

In the last 24 hours, 4,316 samples were sent for testing. So far, samples of 83,875 individuals (including the augmented samples) have been sent for testing. The test results of 79,957 samples were negative. In addition, as part of Sentinel Surveillance, 22,324 samples were collected from high-risk priority groups, and results of 20,362 samples are negative. Till date, a total of 1,11,930 samples were tested, including 5,731 repeat samples.
Six new places (one place each in Palakkad and Wayanad districts, and four in Kannur district) were declared as hotspots today taking the total number of hotspots in Kerala to 144.
