A policeman in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj was suspended following the emergence of a video in which he was seen assaulting a specially-abled person.
A probe has also been ordered against him, according to NDTV.
The video of the incident, which was shared widely on social media, shows a police constable slapping a specially-abled man on the head and pushing him to the ground.
The video was reportedly shot from at a police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj.
Other policemen present near the constable are seen not responding to the violence while the differently-abled man is dragged around in their presence.
The differently-abled man, who reportedly drives an e-rickshaw, told NDTV that the constable abused and assaulted him for picking up passengers by the side of a road.
The constable, however, claimed that the differently-abled man misbehaved when he was asked to move to the side of the road to pick up passengers. The policeman also accused the rikshaw puller of abusing him.

Amarendra Pratap Singh, Superintendent of police, Kannauj, told NDTV that the constable has been removed from duty and a probe has been ordered into the incident.
Singh added that police officers are “trained to control themselves and not misbehave with the public even if there is provocation”.
The constable’s suspension was later announced on the Kannauj Police’s Twitter handle.
“Strict action was taken by the accused following the report of Inspector Saurikh, incharge of police station where the unfortunate incident to the person with a disability took place. The accused accused of abusing Divyang (differently-abled person) was suspended with immediate effect and an inquiry has been ordered against him,” the Kannauj police tweeted.
