41 women made to sleep on floor after surgery, surgeon blames inadequate facility


A few days after the video of 41 women, who underwent sterilisation surgery sleeping on the floor went viral, civil surgeon R Tripathi on Sunday (December 1) said, there was no proper infrastructure facility to provide a bed to such patients.

In the video, 41 women patients who underwent sterilisation on November 25 were seen sleeping on the floor at a sterilisation surgery camp at Lateri Community Health centre in Gyaraspur area, Vidisha district.

According to ANI, Tripathi said, “There are about 30 cases of sterilisation per day. To provide a bed, we need better infrastructure.”

When the incident came to light, Vidisha chief medical health officer Dr Ahirwar, assured a probe on the matter to avoid recurrence of similar incidents in the future.

Meanwhile, PC Sharma, Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister, said that investigation is underway into the incident.

“There are no arrangements for patients at the government hospital. This government is playing with the health of the people of the state,” ANI quoted Rameshwar Sharma, BJP a MLA as saying.
