Congress MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi set to join BJP; meets Amit Shah, JP Nadda

Haryana Congress MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi is all set to join the BJP as he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP party national president JP Nadda in New Delhi on Sunday (July 10).

After cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha polls last month, Adampur legislator Bishnoi was expelled from the Congress.

On his Twitter account, Bishnoi, the younger son of former Haryana chief minister late Bhajan Lal, posted pictures of his meeting with Shah and Nadda and praised both leaders.

He called Shah “a true statesman” and described it as a “real honour” to have met the BJP leader.

“It was a real honour and a pleasure to meet Mr @amitshah ji. A true statesman, I felt his aura and charisma in my interactions with him. His vision for India is awe-inspiring,” Bishnoi tweeted in Hindi.

On his meeting with Nadda, he wrote in a tweet in Hindi, “I am very proud to meet Mr @jpnadda ji. His easy going and humble nature sets him apart from others. Under his able presidency, @bjp4india has seen unprecedented heights. I wish him good health and long life.”

Bishnoi has been sulking ever since the Congress ignored him for the post of its Haryana unit chief during a revamp earlier this year.

After cross-voting, Bishnoi had last month said he was consulting with his supporters to decide on his next course of action. Asked if he was in touch with BJP leaders, Bishnoi had then said his next step would be in the interests of the people of Haryana and his constituency.

The Congress, which is the main opposition party in Haryana, was assured of one Rajya Sabha seat by virtue of the number of MLAs it has in the 90-member assembly. However, Congress candidate Ajay Maken failed to secure the berth after Bishnoi cross-voted, while the vote of an MLA was declared invalid.

BJP’s Krishan Lal Panwar and the saffron party-backed Independent candidate Kartikeya Sharma were elected for the two Rajya Sabha seats from Haryana.
