Wife never wrote to me as many love letters: Kejriwal’s barb at L-G Saxena
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday asked Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to “chill a little” in a tweet, adding that even his wife did not write to him as many “love letters” as Saxena did.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader was referring to the letters written to him by Saxena. The lieutenant governor recently wrote to Kejriwal over his absence at Raj Ghat on Gandhi Jayanti. Previously, he had written to the CM over the delay in permissions for chopping trees for infrastructure projects.
“My wife does not scold me as much as L-G sahib does every day. My wife hasn’t written as many love letters to me in my whole life as the L-G has written to me in the past six months. L-G sahib, chill a little. And please tell your super boss to chill a little as well,” Kejriwal tweeted.

Saxena’s letters
The relationship between Kejriwal and Saxena has remained sour ever since the latter took charge in May. In his letter regarding Kejriwal’s absence from Raj Ghat on October 2, Saxena said the CM’s behaviour was “unacceptable and appalling.” He expressed “disappointment” at the “utter disregard” shown by Kejriwal and his government.
“What makes this absence all the more unacceptable and appalling is the fact that Hon’ble President of India and Hon’ble Vice-President of India were duly invited for the program after approval from the Chief Minister, and the Dy Chief Minister and Minister In-charge of General Administration Dept (GAD), GNCTD, were in loop, having initiated and approved the proposal for the same, as the file went up to the Chief Minister. Moreover, in accepting the invite from the Delhi Government, the President’s Secretariat had clearly apprised the Chief Minister through his Addl Secretary, that it was expected of the Chief Minister to be present at the program and receive the Hon’ble President at Vijay Ghat,” read Saxena’s letter to the CM.

CM breaks silence
Kejriwal had so far remained silent over Saxena’s letters. Responses came only in the form of AAP astatements or comments from spokespersons, such as Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj.
Kejriwal’s tweet came a day after his deputy, Manish Sisodia, shot off a letter to Saxena, alleging a Rs 6,000-crore scam. “There has been a scam of Rs 6,000 crore in the BJP-run municipal bodies of Delhi, but you don’t see that because the BJP is involved,” he wrote. Sisodia has been accused in an alleged liquor scam that the CBI is probing.
The BJP has dismissed the allegations as “political frustration,” while Saxena has not responded. On Tuesday, the Lieutenant Governor ordered a probe into Delhi’s free electricity scheme, a prize project of Kejriwal and AAP.
