Delhi cops to file 14 more chargesheets for Delhi riots, Tablighi event

Twelve chargesheets will be filed at the Saket Court against 41 foreigners who attended the event in South Delhi in March, they said.
The remaining chargesheets will be filed at a special court in Karkardooma in connection with the violence in Northeast Delhi in February.
In both the chargesheets, the cases were filed against suspended AAP councillor Tahir Hussain at the Khajuri Khas police station, a senior police officer said.
The Crime Branch of Delhi Police had already filed 47 chargesheets against more than 900 foreign nationals in the Tablighi Jamaat case for conducting and participating in the event amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement by the Delhi police, they said the accused persons had reportedly violated government guidelines and regulations under the Epidemic Diseases Act, Disaster Management Act, and various other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Sections 304, 308 (culpable homicide), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), etc.
The police had also said in the statement that the accused foreigners had “illegally participated in the religious congregation at Banglewadi Masjid Markaz”, according to The Indian Express.
The Central Government has reportedly cancelled their VISAs, and the police have seized their documents. According to The Indian Express, people who came to attend Markaz on a tourist visa have been blacklisted by the government, the police said.
However, the police also claimed that nobody has been arrested in these cases so far. The accused were given notices, and the court will be hearing this case on June 25 and also in July.
