Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s Delhi office was on Tuesday (March 3) attacked and vandalised by four unidentified miscreants who also heckled his staff.

According to the police, four men entered the Congress leader’s office, which is attached to his residence, at 5.30 PM while enquiring about him. The police also stated that when the staff present there requested for their number, the men insisted on contacting him over the phone.

The attackers, when denied about Chowdhury’s number, vandalised the office. A complaint about the same has been filed by his private secretary Pradipto Rajpandit and an investigation is underway.

This comes on a day when the Congress floor leader in the Lok Sabha, Chowdhury, asked for an immediate discussion on the communal riots in northeast Delhi in Parliament which has claimed 47 lives to date.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla adjourned the lower house and said the discussion on Delhi riots will be held after Holi. Chowdhury said the matter is very serious and should be given top priority.

“Government says we leave it on the Speaker, the Speaker says debate will happen after things will be normal. Now coming under pressure, they are saying it will be discussed after Holi,” Chowdhury said in the Lok Sabha.

“Holi with blood is being played and you are talking about Holi. They are running away from debate and are scared of debate,” he said.
