3 soldiers of Assam Rifles killed in attack by militants in Manipur: Report


Three soldiers of the paramilitary force, Assam Rifles, were killed on Thursday (July 30) after coming under attack by militants in Manipur, NDTV reported. Five other personnel were injured in the attack and are critical, the report added.

According to Hindustan Times, militants of the People’s Liberation Army, a local group in Chandel district of Manipur, had carried out the attack when around 15 soldiers of the unit were patrolling the area. The militants had first attacked the soldiers with a bomb and then opened fire on them, NDTV said.

The personnel, who had lost their lives, have been identified as Havildar Pranay Kalita, and Riflemen YM Konyak and Ratan Salim, News 18 reported. Assam Rifles is yet to issue an official statement in the regard. After the attack, reinforcements have been rushed to Chandel that is around 100 km away from the capital Imphal.
