World number 12 Joshna Chinappa crashed out of the CIB PSA Women’s World Championship in Cairo on Monday (October 28) night after facing a defeat from top seed Nour El Sherbini.

India’s leading squash player went down after a straight-game 5-11 3-11 6-11 loss in the pre-quarterfinals in the round of 16 match.

The three-time world champion El Sherbini completely dominated the Indian to comfortably take the two opening games. Chinappa tried to fight her way past the Egyptian, however, only to fail in the third match.

The defeat was Chinappa’s second consecutive loss to El Sherbini after he lost 1-3 at the JP Morgan China Squash Open in 2017.

“Joshna has been on form from the start of this season. I’m really happy that I managed to win 3-0. I think I felt sharper tonight,” El Sherbini was quoted as saying by psaworldtour.com.
