IPL 2023 final postponed due to rain; CSK vs GT game on Monday (May 29)


Hello and welcome to The Federal’s live coverage of the IPL 2023 final between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad today (May 28).

CSK are playing in their 10th IPL final and have won the title four times. GT, who made their IPL debut last year and claimed the trophy, will be eyeing to become the third team to successfully defend the title. Earlier, CSK and Mumbai Indians (MI) had won two IPL trophies in a row.

11:04 PM: Final to start at 7:30 PM on Monday. “Physical tickets for today will be valid tomorrow. We request you to keep the tickets safe & intact,” says IPL.

10:54 PM: Official confirmation. The game is not possible tonight. The IPL 2023 final to be played on the reserve day, Monday (May 29).

10:28 PM: Umpire Rod Tucker says 12:06 AM is the cut-off time for five overs per side game. But for that rain has to stop by 11 PM as groundstaff need one hour to get the ground ready.

10:05 PM: Rain continues and so does the wait.

9:19 PM: As the umpires were inspecting the ground, rain returns and covers are back on the pitch.

9:18 PM: Good news from Ahmedabad. The umpires are inspecting the ground. The rain has stopped.

8:52 PM: We will start losing overs if the game doesn’t start by 9:35 PM.

8:36 PM: Rain had stopped for a few minutes but it has returned, and now we are witnessing heavy showers.

8:12 PM: The wait continues.

7:48 PM: It is still raining. The latest a full 20 overs per side game can start is 9:35 PM.

7 PM: Toss has been delayed due to rain.

6:44 PM: Not good news as it is raining at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Hope the weather clears soon and we have a full game.
