IPL 2022 tickets go on sale; stadium capacity capped at 25%


The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) will commence in Mumbai on March 26 and the sale of tickets for the league phase begins today, March 23.

In a media advisory on Wednesday, March 23, IPL announced that the stadium capacity has been capped at 25% capacity in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune.

“The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 resumes with the Chennai Super Kings taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on March 26th. This match will be a momentous occasion as the 15th edition of the IPL will welcome the fans back to the stadiums after a brief hiatus owing to the pandemic. Ardent cricket fans are all set to witness nail-biting matches, cheering for their favourite players at the most anticipated cricket tournament of all time,” IPL said in a media statement.

Fans can buy tickets starting March 23 from 12 PM onwards for the league phase of the tournament on the official website www.iplt20.com.

The matches will be played across stadiums in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune with an audience occupancy rate of 25% as per COVID-19 protocols. In all, 20 matches each will be held at Wankhede Stadium & DY Patil Stadium, 15 matches each at Brabourne and MCA International Stadium, Pune, IPL added.

This year, IPL will feature 10 teams with the addition of Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans. IPL 2022 will see 74 matches being played over 65 days. The final is on May 29.
