A woman from Northeast India has filed an FIR against two bike-borne men who hit her with water balloons and called 'Coronavirus' near Delhi University's North Campus on March 5. “The incident took place in the afternoon and the woman filed a complaint," said Monica Bhardwaj, DCP (North Delhi).

Reporting yet another case of racial abuse, a woman from the northeast has filed an FIR against two bike-borne men for allegedly throwing water balloons at her and calling her ‘coronavirus’ near Delhi University’s North Campus, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of North Delhi Monica Bhardwaj said while the incident occurred on March 5, the complainant filed an FIR with Roop Nagar police on March 9. She said the girl was with a friend when two bike-borne miscreants threw water balloons at them and called them coronavirus.

Police have filed the FIR under IPC sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

Bharadwaj said that the girl’s statement has not been recorded yet.

Another northeastern student from the same campus also alleged to have faced a similar kind of harassment on Monday.
