September Friday the 13th will be full moon after 13 years
The full moon on Friday the 13th next week will be the first in the last 13 years and the next one won’t take place until next 13 years, May 2033.
According to urban legend in the west, Friday 13th revolves around narratives in popular culture and mythology. While there is no scientific proof that Friday the 13th is unlucky, myths around this day may have originated from the story of the last supper of Jesus and his crucifixion. Thirteen people were present for the supper on Thursday the 13th, which was considered Holy Thursday. The next day, a Friday, was Good Friday – the day Jesus had died.
Full moons are considered to trigger extreme emotions in people. Studies have revealed that people’s mood change during this time.
Even though the full moon only occurs at a specific moment in time, it will appear perfectly circular to our eyes for about 24 hours before and after.
The full moon in September is known as the “Harvest Moon” — a name that may have originated from ancient Native American traditions, or possibly even Anglo-Saxon or old Germanic languages.
Normally, the moon rises around 50 minutes later each day on average. But in the days leading up to the Harvest Moon, this interval shortens to around 27 minutes on average.
