Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday (Jun28) accused former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi of doing “ochhi rajneeti” (cheap politics) during a crisis and said that his “Surrender Modi” hashtag is being encouraged by Pakistan and China. Shah’s remarks came during an interview to news agency ANI.
“We’re capable of handling anti-India propaganda but it’s painful when former president of a big party does ochhi rajneeti during a crisis. It’s a matter of introspection for him and his party that their hashtag is being encouraged by Pakistan and China,” the senior BJP leader said on Gandhi’s “Surender Modi” tweet.

Gandhi last week had said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has surrendered Indian land to Chinese aggression, and called him “Surrender Modi”, after the prime minister claimed at an all-party meeting that there had been no intrusion into Indian territory, nor were any of the posts overtaken.
His tweet came in the wake of clashes between the troops of India and China in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley on June 15 night, during which at least 20 Indian soldiers were killed. This had led to escalation of border tensions between the two Asian countries, besides triggering an anti-China sentiment in India.

The Union minister further said that the government is ready to hold a “robust debate” on this issue in the Parliament. He further said that the central government fought well against the COVID-19 pandemic, but some people see wrong even in right things, in a dig at the former Congress president.
“The Indian government fought well against corona. I can’t advise Rahul Gandhi, that’s the job of his party leaders. Some people pl are ‘vakradrashti’, they see wrong even in the right things. India fought well against corona and our figures are much better when compared to the world,” the Union minister said.
