NIA files chargesheet against suspended J&K cop Davinder Singh, 5 others in terror case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday (July 6) filed a chargesheet against suspended Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Devender Singh and five others for alleged terror activities in the country.
Singh who was arrested in January this year for helping Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists Naveen Babu, Rafi Ahmed Rather and Irfan Shahi Mir, was granted bail by a Delhi court last months after the Delhi police failed to file a chargesheet against him during the statutory period of 90 days in a conspiracy case
Besides Singh, the chargesheet also names banned Hizbul Mujahideen commander Syed Naveed Mushtaq alias Naveed Babu as well as the group’s alleged overground worker Irfan Shafi Mir and its member Rafi Ahmad Rather. The other two named are Tanveer Ahmad Wani, a trader, and Naveed Babu’s brother Syed Irfan Ahmad, officials said.

Singh was also alleged to have established contact with officials of the Pakistan High Commission through secure social media platforms.
Singh despite the bail, had stayed in jail as the case was being probed by the NIA. During his arrest, Jammu and Kashmir Police had seized an AK-47 assault rifle, three pistols, five hand grenades, 174 rounds of AK-47 and 36 rounds of pistol ammunition from his car. He was arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
